Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
this is how it's going to be. any decent peformance or 3 points will be used as a rallying cry for the board, the stadium, the whole WHU london project.

if we really want them out it's going to have to be scorched earth, consequences be damned.

Bishopsfinger 1:27 Wed Mar 4
Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
If we really want to get to them the sale of Upton Park is the key. Investigate that and o believe you will find the Ammo required.

I’d put in to hire a forensic accountant or the like.

Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
It's true that singing "where's the fucking money", while catchy, isn't the headline that the protests need. Because it can be shot down very easily by saying what's been spent. And repeatedly squawking "net spend" like a demented Arsenal Fan TV FKW is then getting into the "I'm bored now" territory which the media and public are always just a few seconds away from.

Now the idea of wasting the club's money is something else and directly speaks of the owners' incompetence.

FFS...the writer slipped up a bit there, should have mentioned that Sullivan is also a big donator to charity at the end of the article.

He's right though it's not about the money, it's about the egos and kudos and the temerity and arrogance of 3 people who refuse to learn from any of the numerous mistakes they have made from the last 3 decades.

Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
>>> We need to start highlighting whenever we can the average net spend per season in the ten years they have been there!

Agreed. But if so many critics will have to come to terms with how high it is in relative terms.

The mistaken assumption that our net spend has been low is imo undermining any campaign against the owners. It makes us look ill-informed, and gives them a built-in defence.

Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
To be honest I don't think it now matters what PR flim flam GSB put out - battle lines have been drawn, the Rubicon has been crossed.

This latest piece is just dross - possibly the result of Sullivan getting PR advice that he needs to mellow his tone because his previous pugnacious approach has only served to get people's backs up.

It simply wont wash though because HU has played a very good hand extremely well.

It will be interesting to see what their next move is. Personally I'd be lobbying the Mayor's Office, LLDC and DMCS. Any suggestion that the athletics legacy on the stadium - or even future ownership - is negotiable will open up a whole new front and increase pressure on GSB massively.

Lily Hammer 12:24 Wed Mar 4
Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
If that is PR from Sullivan, then it's not what I'd expect, because it says that with hindsight, the move from Upton Park was a mistake, and the experience was better where we were.

In that case, Dave, do whatever it takes to rebuild/reconfigure the stadium to be what we were promised. It won't be easy; it won't be cheap, but it will go a long way to repairing the damage you've done.

You have to design backwards from the pitch. Front row on all four sides should be up close, emergency access through the players tunnel on the West Side, and work from there.

If that were done, you may even be remembered fondly in the history books for finally fixing the damage and leaving a decent legacy, or at least you might not have thousands wanting to piss on your grave after you've gone.

anything north of £60m is probably a good deal.
£80m is a very good deal.

probably be replaced by someone from France for about £25m.

Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
I think rices recent form plus the fact he will go to the euros this summer should see his value stay around where it was last summer. That and the fact that prices go up year on year anyway, so we should certainly be holding out for a proper hefty sum.

For his sake, I hope he goes somewhere like Man City with a Coach who can develop him as he has so much potential

I’d rather we hang on another year if we can though

Lee Trundle 12:06 Wed Mar 4
Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
I suppose it depends on where we finish. If we're relegated, then that figure of yours might not be too far off.

I'd hope they'd be others interested and they'd be a bidding war if it was around that price, which could push it up further.

"If Rice goes this summer it will be nowhere near the £80m being talked about last summer."

I think it will be. If Man Utd are sniffing around then they'll bid something stupid like £80m, which would be stupid to turn down IMO (world record for a DM).

when we eventually move Haller and Anderson on i will be gob smacked if we sell them for anything like the money we paid

It's been a very long time since we made money on Rio, Cole, Carrick and Lampard and you could argue that only Rio went for top dollar.

My point is the top clubs mentioned in that article will always be net buyers, most other clubs regularly sell players for more than they paid for them sometimes significantly more which is part of their transfer model. We rarely do that. When was the last time we bought a player and sold him on for more than we bought him for?

This isn't just about the academy is about our scouting network and our failure to recognise when is a good time to move players on.

If Rice goes this summer it will be nowhere near the £80m being talked about last summer.

Our transfer business and scouting networks leave a hell of a lot to be desired

Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
GSB are just shit in the football market. They spend, BUT.... Equivalent of Bargain Hunt contestants who "win" by only losing £130 instead of £400.* But think they're experts.

Sullivan should stick his main interest. Property. The whole basis of next-level OS deal was likely motivation of a mega property-basd deal, fuck all else.

* Apparently. Never seen Bargain Hunt. Obviously. Erm.

, 11:45 Wed Mar 4
Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
Richy, we sell two sorts of players, those that we develop and those we are finished with. So we made money with the likes of Rio, Cole, Carrick and Lampard. Probably made money with Tomkins.

However our real problem is when we are stuck with over paid players that we’ve paid too much for and right now Anderson and Haller are looking like prime examples.

*The situations around 2 of our best players in recent years (Payet and Arnie) were mismanaged so badly that we received well short of market value for the pair.*

To be fair a lot of that was down to the players attitude themselves and agent intervension.

Nagel 11:10 Wed Mar 4

That doesn't surprise me because we rarely sell players for more than we paid for them which in itself is a damning reflection of our transfer business. The situations around 2 of our best players in recent years (Payet and Arnie) were mismanaged so badly that we received well short of market value for the pair.

Re: Sullivan propaganda campaign restarts?
the in house agents have always been a problem since they bought the club, but was it any better under brown? they've always given with one hand and taken away with the other. now is probably the first time in many years that we've had a few sellable assets, so it will be interesting who they allow to move on in the summer if we stay up. jock allardyce's speech about rice possibly moving on may have been said with the dwarf's hand up his backside
